Best Times to Visit
Pearl Harbor

Planning your visit to Pearl Harbor? You’re not alone — this historic site is one of Oʻahu’s most visited attractions, and timing your trip right can make all the difference. Whether you’re traveling with your family, on a solo adventure, or exploring with friends, here’s everything you need to know about the best time to go.

Early Morning = The Best Experience

No matter the season, arriving early is key. Pearl Harbor gets progressively busier as the day goes on, and the National Park Service only releases 1,300 tickets per day to the USS Arizona Memorial.

By getting there early (especially before 9AM), you’ll enjoy:

  • Shorter lines

  • Cooler morning temperatures

  • Quieter, more reflective time at memorial sites

  • More time to explore the visitor center and exhibits

Our tours are timed to get you there early — so you skip the stress and soak in the experience.

Summer vs. Winter: When Should You Visit Pearl Harbor?

☀️ Summer (June – August)

Summer is the most popular time to visit Pearl Harbor — and for good reason. The weather is warm and sunny, perfect for sightseeing, beach days, and outdoor activities. Kids are on summer break, making it an ideal time for family vacations. There’s a vibrant, energetic vibe on the island, with lots of festivals and events happening. However, it’s also the busiest season, so expect more crowds and longer lines at popular sites like the USS Arizona Memorial. Tickets often sell out early, so booking a guided tour (like ours) is a smart way to skip the stress.

❄️ Winter (December – February)

Winter offers a calmer, more relaxed experience. While the weather is cooler, it’s still pleasant — especially for walking tours, scenic drives, and exploring the historical side of Honolulu. With fewer tourists in town (outside of major holidays), Pearl Harbor is generally less crowded, making it easier to take your time and reflect at memorial sites. It’s also a great time for travelers who aren’t focused on beach or water activities. If you prefer smaller crowds, shorter lines, and a quieter atmosphere, winter is an excellent choice.

Weekdays vs. Weekends

If you can, plan your visit on a weekday. Weekends tend to be busier, especially in the late morning and afternoon. However, even on weekends, a well-timed early arrival or a guided tour will help you beat the crowds and make the most of your visit.
